The Norwegian Armed Forces Staff Band (NOR)

The Norwegian Armed Forces Staff Band is one of the five military bands of the Norwegian Armed Forces and Norway’s largest professional wind orchestra. The band is based at Akershus Fortress and was established in 1818. As Oslo’s oldest musical institution, it serves as the Armed Forces’ principal ceremonial and representative band, with regular engagements on behalf of the Royal House of Norway, Stortinget (Norwegian Parliament), the Government, as well as military units across the Armed Forces.

Each year on 17 May, Norway’s Constitution Day, the Staff Band has the distinguished honour of leading the capital’s Children’s Parade. During the summer season, the band is also widely recognised for its popular guard parades from Akershus Fortress, performed in connection with the Changing of the Guard at the Royal Palace.

We proudly welcome them to the Norwegian Military Tattoo 2026!
